Rockefeller
Hall
Building
Project

Rockefeller Hall was designed as a
dormitory/classroom/dining facility, for the Harvard Divinity School, in 1970 by
Edward Larabee Barnes of New York. There have been no significant renovations
undertaken since the building was constructed. The primary goals of the current
project are:
- Complete renovation
of Rockefeller Hall and adjacent landscape to make the building fully
accessible
- Conversion of the
three upper floors from dormitory space to administrative offices and
meeting rooms
- Reconfiguration of
the first floor dining area to satisfy current Divinity School program
requirements and upgrading kitchen and food service facilities to meet
current code
- Improvement of life
safety and building systems, including fire detection and suppression
systems
- Improvement of
building envelope, including installation of new exterior windows and
roofing
- Creation of a campus
green to provide a campus identity and to support recreation and
community-building activities
Design
The architect for the
project is Venturi, Scott Brown & Associates of Philadelphia. Stephen Stimson
Associates is the landscape architect.
Construction Manager
Shawmut Design and
Construction was selected as construction manager.
