Rockefeller Hall was designed as a dormitory/classroom/dining facility, for the Harvard Divinity School, in 1970 by Edward Larabee Barnes of New York. There have been no significant renovations undertaken since the building was constructed. The primary goals of the current project are:

  • Complete renovation of Rockefeller Hall and adjacent landscape to make the building fully accessible
  • Conversion of the three upper floors from dormitory space to administrative offices and meeting rooms
  • Reconfiguration of the first floor dining area to satisfy current Divinity School program requirements and upgrading kitchen and food service facilities to meet current code
  • Improvement of life safety and building systems, including fire detection and suppression systems
  • Improvement of building envelope, including installation of new exterior windows and roofing
  • Creation of a campus green to provide a campus identity and to support recreation and community-building activities

Design

The architect for the project is Venturi, Scott Brown & Associates of Philadelphia.  Stephen Stimson Associates is the landscape architect.
